Park your car on the outskirts of the city and take public transportation to the city! You can do this using the P+R operated by the municipality of Amsterdam.
The GVB P+R ticket from the P+R ticket vending machine gives you the right to two trips (there and back, a maximum of 1 hour per trip) using GVB trams, buses or metro, starting out from the official Amsterdam P&R sites listed below. After checking in at the bus, tram or metro, the GVB P+R card is valid for one hour. Within this hour you can transfer unlimited between the different vehicles and lines. The second hour starts after the first hour has passed by and you check in again.
Note: The tickets are only valid on GVB's daytime bus, tram and metro lines (not valid on the night buses) and NOT on Connexxion, EBS, Arriva and NS trains.
View the rates for a GVB P+R ticket here.
At P+R Noord (next to Station Noord), Boven 't Y, VUmc and Zeeburg III, there are no GVB P+R tickets available in the vending machine. Since 1 September 2023, you can no longer buy a P+R GVB card at P+R Zeeburg I and II. You must use your OV-chipkaart or purchase a chipkaart on the tram or at the metro station.
Note: Barcode e-tickets via the GVB app or other apps can NOT be used to obtain a discount on the parking rate from a P+R vending machine. It is also NOT yet possible to get a discount at a P+R machine if you have travelled with a bank card or credit card (OVpay).
So travel with an OV-chipkaart, GVB P+R ticket or single ticket purchased at a vending machine on stops or metro station to benefit from a discount for parking at P+R.
