GVB, the public transport company of Amsterdam
Public transport in Amsterdam
Public transport is for everyone: Amsterdam residents, visitors and tourists, students and commuters. Wherever Amsterdam takes you, we are there. We are there for your daily trips to school, work or study. And also for all outings and adventures in your free time. On foot, by bike or by bus, tram, metro or ferry. From Zuidoost to NDSM and from the Bijlmer to Nieuw-West. Between home and away, that's where we are.
Our metros
The metro network in Amsterdam consists of 5 lines: lines 50, 51, 52, 53 and 54. The Eastern lines run to Gaasperplas and Gein, the Ring Line and the North/South Line.
Our buses
The bus network is spread throughout Amsterdam and even connects the Amsterdam region. The buses also run at night. Many of which are electric buses.
Our trams
The tram network covers the entire city, with the exception of Amsterdam North and South East. There are approximately 200 km of rails with 650 switches and 500 stops.
Our ferries
GVB operate ferry services on both the IJ and the North Sea Canal. A crossing with most ferries is free for pedestrians and (moped) cyclists.
