Forgot to check out?

Do you have a public transport chip card? If so, you already know that you need to check in and out for every trip. Nevertheless, it's possible to miss checking out. This is why there is now uitcheckgemist.nl (click for English site). 

Request refund in three simple steps

Request a refund of your balance within 3 months. Step 3 for forgotten check-ins or check -outs with NS is a bit different than with other carriers. It works as follows:

Step 1: register

​Go to uitcheckgemist.nl (click for English site) and register with your public transport chip card. If you have a personal public transport chip card, also fill in your date of birth.

Step 2: enter info

The website lists all trips without a check-out. Note: It may take up to 14 days before you see your missed check out refund. If after this period your trip still does not show up, you can try again after a few days. 
Want to request a refund for a trip? Enter the boarding location and the destination. The balance will be displayed immediately.

Step 3: collect

Your requested balance refund will be readied. You can reload it on your public transport chip card at a vending machine and then use it to travel.

Step 3: collect at NS

Your requested balance refund will be readied. You no longer have to go to a ticket vending machine. When checking in at NS, your balance will be directly visible on your card! Collection at a machine remains an option.

Worth knowing

The money remaining after all claims are processed is used in projects and measures to improve public transport, and in that sense flows indirectly, but always back to travelers, where it belongs.
