There are 4 metrolines:
50 - Gein - Isolatorweg
51 - Centraal Station - Westwijk (Amstelveen)
53 - Centraal Station - Gaasperplas (Amsterdam Zuidoost)
54 - Centraal Station - Gein (Amsterdam Zuidoost)
The metro runs on its own track, completely separated from other traffic. Part of the route lies underground in a tunnel, part lies on an elevated track. Level crossings with other traffic are avoided. Travelling with the metro is therefore quick and reliable.
The metro and light rail lines not only provide a fast link between suburban, industrial and business areas, but also give direct access to the regional and national railroad network. In this way, a large area can be reached quite easily and quickly with public transportation.
