Personalized OV-chipkaart
You apply for your personalized OV-chipkaart at GVB, using the application form (Dutch only). The card itself carries a one-time price of € 7,50 and is valid for five years.
Anonymous OV-chipkaart
The anonymous OV-chipkaart can be bought at
GVB Tickets & Info and at the GVB Ticket Vending and Add Value Machines*. The card itself carries a one-time price of € 7,50 and is valid for five years.
Disposable OV-chipkaart
You can buy disposable cards at the Ticket Vending and Add Value machines* and from tram and bus drivers and conductors. A disposable card already carries a travel product.
*At the Ticket Vending and Add Value machines you can pay cash (execept in Amstelveen) and with PIN, chip or credit card.

What is the cost of travelling using the E-purse?
For a trip using the E-purse on the OV-chipkaart the price is € 0,10 per kilometer plus a base fee of € 0,78. If you change within 35 minutes (you check out of the first vehicle and check in again in the second vehicle) the base fee is not counted again.
