Where to buy tickets?

Tickets for public transport are sold at many locations in and around Amsterdam. Where to buy which ticket:

 

GVB Tickets & Info Stationsplein, opposite Central Station: all tickets.
Open: Monday to Friday, 7am - 9pm and Saturday and Sunday, 10am - 6pm.

GVB Tickets & Info metrostation Central Station:
all tickets. Open: Monday to Friday, 7am - 6pm.

GVB Tickets & Info Bijlmer ArenA station: all tickets.
Open: Monday to Friday, 7am - 6pm and Saturday and Sunday, 10am - 6pm.

GVB Tickets & Info Lelylaan station: all tickets.
Open: Monday to Friday: 7am - 6pm.

GVB Tickets & Info metrostation Weesperplein: all tickets.
Open: Monday to Friday: 7am - 6pm.

GVB Tickets & Info Zuid station: all tickets.
Open: Monday to Friday, 7am - 6pm.

GVB Servicedesk, Arlandaweg 100 (near Sloterdijk Station): all tickets.
Open: Monday to Friday, 9am - 4pm.

Advance sales: post offices (strip tickets and 1-5 star weekly and monthly season tickets), Albert Heijn supermarkets (strip tickets only) and most tobacconists in Amsterdam (strip tickets and 1-3 star weekly and monthly season tickets).
Using your postal code you can find the nearest sales outlet on the VBN website.

On trams and buses: drivers and conductors sell 1-hour disposable chiptickets, 2x1 hour disposable chiptickets and 24-hour disposable chiptickets. In every metrostaton you will find a Ticket Vending Machine.

Travel tips

 

  • Reduced fare tickets (for 4-11 year olds and people aged 65 or older) are only available when purchased in advance.
  • Reduction entitlement: as well as holders of the Pas 65, people aged 65 or older with a valid identity document are entitled to reduced-fare travel.
  • Children up to the age of 4 travel for free!
